A Tribute to Marty Richards

On November 26, 2012, fellow Board member Martin (”Marty”) Richards passed away. His generosity, freedom of spirit, incredible talent and contribution to the arts will be deeply missed. Marty was a founding board member whose friendship, guidance and support helped generate countless opportunities for the Broadway Walk of Stars Foundation.

The Broadway Walk of Stars Foundation Welcomes Peter Duchin to its Board of Advisors

Celebrated American pianist, band leader/composer and son of musical legend Eddie Duchin, Peter Duchin first received acclaim in 1962 with his band in The Maisonette at the Saint Regis Hotel, performing both contemporary rock and selections from the great American song book. In 1964 he was the musical coordinator for President Lyndon Johnson’s inauguration and later that of Jimmy Carter’s. He has recorded 22 albums and over the years, has played over 2000 dates all over the world raising countless millions for numerous charities. In 1997, he wrote a best selling memoir, Ghost of a Chance, followed by two detective novels.

Spotlight Shines on Broadway Walk of Stars

Arlene Dahl, president and founder of the Broadway Walk of Stars Foundation was presented with the Spotlight on Broadway Award on September 7, 2012, for her contribution to the theater and entertainment industry. Along with fellow artists Tommy Tune, Chita Rivera, and Charles Strouse, the ceremony was a great success and an opportunity to highlight the importance of celebrating the rich history and contribution these artists have had in the theatrical community over the years.

The Broadway Walk of Stars Celebration

It was a starry night on Broadway, as theater legends and American icons came out to celebrate Broadway and support the launch of the BROADWAY WALK OF STARS project. Arlene Dahl, Founder and President, had dreamt of placing stars on the Sidewalks of Times Square honoring New York’s most famous legends.

The Broadway Walk of Stars Rings The NASDAQ Stock Market Opening Bell

10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 With countdown music resonating, The Broadway Walk of Stars President and Founder Arlene Dahl pushed the button that rang the bell, opening the NASDAQ Stock Market on Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2009. The event was broadcast on multiple news channels as well as seen on the impressive NASDAQ Tower in Times Square.

Foundation Gala

Founder and President Arlene Dahl and producer Martin Richards hosted an evening of song to benefit The Broadway Walk of Stars Foundation. The gala was held at Richards' River House apartment.
